Day 4

Day 5
After breakfast in the Pension restaurant we are going to explore a new territory even for those who have visited the Czech Republic before! We will be heading for Northern Bohemia, famous for its production of glass, Christmas ornaments, beads, costume jewelry, but also for its beautiful nature. Our “home base” will be in a famous recreational resort Harrachov in the heart of the Giant Mountains. Here we will visit the Novosad&son glassworks and the family brewery. In the evening, the first group of “brave” people is going to soak in the beer baths, the rest can go on tasting the local special beer or go for a stroll.
Day 6
Christmas is still well ahead of us but it’s never too late to get ready, don’t you think? That’s the reason why we have planned a visit to a small mountain village where a family company RAUTIS has its seat. This company has been making blown glass beads and beaded ornaments for over 100 years!!! And not only will you have an opportunity to see the production, but you will have a chance to make your own Christmas ornament! Another place not to be missed here is the Museum of Krkonose Crafts, which is nearby. The afternoon will find us exploring another important place – the Joint-stock brewery in Nova Paka and its malt house. And on the way there we will stop to taste some of the local specialties! In the evening – more beer and more beer baths!
Day 7
We are going to spend the morning in the workshops of the Vocational School of Crafts and Glass Making in Jablonec nad Nisou, the center of the glass-making industry. You will have a chance to get a hands-on experience with glass production, see the most interesting works of the students, shop in the school store as well as in the newly opened glass mega-store, where beads and bead products are sold at very reasonable prices. In the afternoon we will offer you a chance to go on a short hike to the Mumlava River Falls.
Day 8
Dvur Kralove nad Labem (Queen’s Court) is another important town in Eastern Bohemia. Situated in the Labe River valley, the town indicates that we are on our way to the south. Apart from being a center of textile and machinery industries today, it’s also famous for the production of hand-made traditional blown-glass Christmas ornaments. Of course we won’t miss the opportunity to see how they are made!!! How far do you think it is from Dvur Kralove to Africa? Believe it or not, it’s only a couple of miles! So we will be able to spend the evening on a true African safari and watch zebras, rhinos, antelopes, and giraffes
Day 9
On the way again .. First a visit to the Cerna Hora brewery, where one of the oldest beers in the country is brewed. The tour is of course a must, and lunch in the brewery restaurant is certainly a plus. Then straight to Straznice, for the opening night of the International Straznice Folk Festival!
Day 10
On the last weekend in June Straznice, a small town on the border with Slovakia and the center of the National Institute of Folk Culture, changes into a place bursting with people, music, wine, dancing as the International Folk Festival is held. You have a hard time to see everything, be it the “verbunk” dance competitions, the traditional Moravian wedding, children’s ensembles singing and dancing, and many more ensembles from all over the world performing on a number of stages in the castle park and other places. And the Saturday parade – make sure you don’t miss it!
Day 11
We unfortunately have to say farewell to Straznice as there4 is more to see. Number 1 – Telc, the charming little old-world town famous for its castle and the glorious square with gabled houses and arcades. A good place to stop, stretch your legs or have something to eat in one of the restaurant on the square. Then again off to Cesky Krumlov, a famous UNESCO Heritage Site town. Late afternoon – a short walk through Cesky Krumlov unique historical center, its medieval streets and townhouses, which will make you want to return again. Evening free.
Day 12
On this day you have a chance to either go to Brloh to meet relatives, visit the local church and cemetery, or to spend the whole day in Cesky krumlov, where you can tour the luxurious interior of the Cesky Krumlov castle and walk around the beautiful gardens. The view of the town from the top of the hill is breath-taking! You can also just walk through the narrow winding streets of the historical town center, or watch the canoers and kayakers go down the river Vltava, which runs through the town. It’s certainly fun!
Day 13
After breakfast a three-hour drive to Prague. No stops on the way as we want to be back in Prague as soon as possible – today is the last chance to see what you haven’t seen yet, to do some last minute shopping, or just to walk through the places you enjoyed most.
Day 14
Transport to the airport and travel home.
